Call for scripts and people, Two Shades of Blue Edinburgh 2009

It’s about this time of year that Two Shades of Blue Normally decides on what to put on in
Edinburgh this summer… so I’m looking for your ideas.

I like to think of TSOB as the “professional” wing of light entertainment; last year saw a record success with some lovely shows, and well over 1500 bums on seats which led to a record profit.

You may have a script you have written or want to write, or a recommendation for someone else’s (whether professionally published or
not), or maybe just some vague idea for some foolishness. You all know the score of what we’re looking for, something very much light
entertainment, no contemporarary dance, and something that is also marketable and (ideally) royalty free. We have, in the past, performed
a sketch show, kids shows, farces based on victorian novels, and a modern pantomime, but anything lightly entertaining is acceptable.
Past shows can be seen on the (horribly out of date) website, http://www.twoshadesofblue.org.uk/

So please make suggestions- a title, an idea, a full script, or if you’re submitting something which is work in progress, a couple of paragraphs of synopsis and maybe a page or so of the script to give a feel for style. All ideas very much welcome, if you submitted something in previous years and you still think it’s a good idea then please do resubmit it! We had about a dozen serious submissions last year, most of them excellent. The scripts will be sent to a small panel who will make recommendations as to which they like.

We haven’t decided how many shows to do this year, and this will partly depend on the shows chosen and cast size, etc, they suggest.

We also need to start looking for production teams for the show(s), so if you’ve got an idea you want to help with the production (whether combined with acting or not) then please also drop me an e-mail. ( I know that lots of last years crew do want to come back already, but more help always welcome.)

I would like to appoint production crew and pick scripts in the first week of February, so deadline for any submissions is the 31st January.

Also, if you fancy directing or acting, we will be appointing directors after the shows are set (logical) and actors after the directors (also logical).
I anticipate auditions will be at the end of this term or beginning of next in Oxford and Cambridge. The Edinburgh fringe this year runs from 7th-31st,
August, and I suspect we will be there for a week or 10 days at some point in that period.
