Auditions for the TSOB 2011 Fringe Productions

Two Shades of Blue are pleased to announce auditions for this year’s shows will take place from 6th – 8th May in no less than four cities around the country!

This year we are looking for actors for two shows:

Batman!! Holy Spoof Musical Batstravaganza! – this will be performed from 23rd – 30th August inclusive.

Batman is traditional light-entertainment show – a fast-paced, over the top and very funny take on the famous comic book superhero. Expect lots of tight lycra and bad puns. There are singing and non-singing parts available and some parts need accents. We are also looking for a musical director.

Snow White: The Way Through The Woods – this will be performed at the Fringe from 16th – 21st August inclusive.

This is a more challenging show – a haunting and twisted take on the tale of Snow White, told through verse and accompanied by an orchestral ensemble. An excellent opportunity for anyone looking to get involved with something a bit different – for some of the parts singing and dancing experience will be a bonus.

Auditions are open to all, whether or not you’ve taken part in a Two Shades or Light Entertainment show before. We’re very friendly are are always keen to find new people who are willing to work hard and have fun! Audition times and dates are as follows:

Friday 6th May

11am – 3pm – ADC Theatre, Cambridge
6pm – 9pm – The PIE (162 Harrow View, HA1 4TL), London

Saturday 7th May

2pm – 6pm – Mansfield College, Oxford

Sunday 8th May

1pm – 4pm – Gallery Room 1, University of Sheffield

The auditions will be fairly relaxed – we will ask you to read some audition pieces (which, if you would like to prepare in advance, can be found here). As both shows have some singing parts we will require you to sing something – anything at all as long as it can be sung without accompaniment. Other than that you don’t need to prepare anything – just come with enthusiasm and an open mind!

To join us at the Fringe you will need to be free for the show dates for whichever show you are cast in, as well as a rehearsal week taking place immediately preceding the shows (so, 7th – 15th for Woods and 14th – 21st for Batman) and at one or two weekends by mutual agreement.

The cost per person is likely to be about 375 pounds which includes your accommodation, food, travel to/from Edinburgh and the cost of doing the shows. We operate a profit share basis, and you should get some back as long as we all work hard flyering and selling tickets!

This is a really great opportunity to get involved in what should be two excellent, enormously fun (and very different) productions and we hope to see lots of people at auditions!

If you’re unable to make the auditions in your city on the date/time stated, but would still like to be involved then please email tsob@gillconquest.co.uk and we’ll try and work something out.
