The Details…(in alphabetical order)

Clemency Cooper – Publicity

Clemency CooperClem Cooper stumbled across Light Entertainment four years ago and has since produced, performed and assembled an atrocious array of accents in numerous shows. Amongst her publicity duties of serving tea and cake to the masses, singing and flyering on the Mile and liaising with cast and venue during the last Fringe, Clem also performed as Pinocchio in “Once Upon A Time”. When not organising a production company Clem is usually found herding hordes of school children and finds the logistics of these two occupations remarkably similar.

Camila Garces-Bovett – Chorus

This is Camila’s first visit to the Fringe, having only recently become involved in the seedy world of Light Entertainment. She is very much looking forward to being in Edinburgh for the first time ever, as well as being on stage and not forgetting the words. She hopes her time in Scotland will surpass all her previous (and limited) acting experience, including the time she played a singing rosebush dressed in a binbag. When not lightly-entertaining, Camila is a linguistics student at Cambridge.

Rei Haberberg – Indiana Jones

Rei is a first-year languages student who entered the light entertaining world despite protests of its dark, seductive underbelly, and finds herself enjoying the gentle comedy but still sadly uncorrupted. This will be her third time at the Fringe but her first on the less crowded side of he stage, and she’s very much anticipating fun with silly hats. And tea. She’s going to be making an awful lot of tea.

Richard Owen – Writer / Director

Richard was at Oxford for 4 years and did too much theatre. Not only has he meddled with lighting design and production management, he also managed to co-found TAFF, the society for Oxford University theatre Technicians and Designers. So far he’s been the Technical Director for all of TSoB’s jaunts to Edinburgh and has enjoyed every one! He has started to dabble with Directing, having directed both “The Matrix: The Pantomime” and “Back to the Future: The Pantomime” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In his spare time, he tries to hold down a job vaguely related to engineering and enjoys writing about himself in the third person.

Amy Palmer – Pat

A brand new third shade of blue, Amy is usually to be found backstage at USLES shows brandishing a script, gaffa tape and a packet of valium. Originally from rural Lincolnshire, Amy is now an aspiring Yorkshire lass at the University of Sheffield studying for a Masters in Community work and running the Student Mental Illness Lifeline (SMILe).

Suchitra Sebastian – Out

It has been said that Suchitra’s reason for existence is to make people laugh… although at intervals she does pretend to be a physicist at Cambridge. Maybe this makes people laugh too. All that pretending can sometimes come in useful in that amazing thing called theatre, where one gets to say things like ‘Mwahahahaha… with my magical dust I shall take over the world!’ convincingly. Suchitra’s recent move to the UK saw her fall in love with the Edinburgh Fringe; she is tremendously excited to be participating in it for the first time. Other than theatre, she is a big fan of silliness, adventures, and wonder.

Tim Skew – Em

Tim “The Hammer” Skew used to be such a nice boy when he started reading Chemistry at Sheffield. Since then he’s fallen in with a bad crowd, leading to wearing dresses and getting felt up on stage; for some reason he’s now president of the University of Sheffield Light Entertainment Society. This is the first time Tim’s been involved with this Edinburgh malarkey and looks forward to all his family seeing him in drag. Tim accepts nothing but full commitment to a bit, enjoys amaretto on the rocks and looks damn fine in a suit.

Rose Stanley – Stage Manager

This is Rose’s second year at the Fringe and her second year as ASM. Coincidence? Yes.

Rose has been into Light Entertainment ever since she was little, where “light entertainment” means “making puns and forcing boys to dress in drag” (thanks, Al and Chris). She has co-written a number of pantomimes, usually as an alternative to revision. In her spare time, Rose likes reading, singing, making lists, wearing black, tidying things and handing people random objects.

Joanne Williams – Chorus

This is Joanne’s fourth fringe festival with TSOB and her seventh year at the fringe in total; although she is more usually to be found running around in black and worrying about props in contrast to her all-singing all-dancing persona this summer. She is very excited about getting to prance about on stage and wear more colourful clothing. Once upon a time, Joanne read History at Oxford, albeit mostly from the wings of various student theatres. Now she lives in London and her working hours are divided between front of house management and writing fiction. Her leisure time of late appears to mostly involve dancing.

Laura Vale – Wictig von Handlanger

Laura joined CULES four years ago after turning up to an audition for Babes In the Wood in the hope that a genuine Nottingham accent might land her a part. Since then she has branched out into French and German comedy accents as befits a languages student. She particularly enjoys playing baddies and seductresses and both.
