The Details…(in alphabetical order)

Gill Conquest – Producer

Gill is a second year social anthropologist who first stumbled across the gin-fuelled world of Light Entertainment whilst attempting to join the Model United Nations. However although her innocent young ideas about doing something important and political were thwarted, her thirst for power was not quenched and she has risen through the ranks to become Secretary, and now co-President of CULES. Producing for Two Shades is, of course, the next step in her plans for world domination. First Edinburgh, then the Universe!!!! Mwa ha ha ha ha!!!!!

Gemunu Cooray – Johann Faust

Once upon a time there was a medical student called Gam Cooray. Previosuly famed far and wide for his protrayal of dignified elderly gentlemen, he is regrettably now typecast as a camp man of dubious morality and (when the occasion calls) a third rate female impersonator (lack of breasts is compensated for by the fact that few other men will wear a size 10 dress). Following a year in OULES as at various times a pantomime goose, a bisexual/cross-dressing Scarlet Pimpernel and Claudius in Hamlet, he is now ready for a meatier role, and was delighted to hear of his casting as the lead role in this year’s Fringe offering. Unfortunately it has since dawned on him that they weren’t talking about the Wind in the Willows.

Antonia Custance-Baker – A Demon

This is my eighth lightly entertaining play and as usual I auditioned to play a goodie, but for some reason I am yet again cast as a villain/seductress, no one will explain to me why? On the rare occasions I am not wasting time on theatricals I write essays on development economics.

Cat Harris – Christopher Marlowe

Cat was first cast two years ago as Gary the Chef, and since then she has played many parts, including Mr. Smee, Puss in Boots and Father Christmas. She is eventually hoping to branch out into acting as someone female. Will she get to play a woman in this production? (No)

Philip Gemmell – Mephistopheles

Joined OULES after pretending to do serious drama, and failing, for two terms in his first year of studying Physics. First trip to the Fringe after an audition that included Tony Blair, Ian McKellan and other accents, he has already managed to wear fishnets and do a Sean Connery accent for panto – at the same time.

Benjamin Parker – Executive Producer

Ben’s given himself the title of Executive Producer so he can pretend to still be involved whilst doing as little as possible. He’s delighted to be going back to Edinburgh for the third time, and what a treat this year promises to be. Lovely plays and Lovely People: Two Shows, Two Sensations, Two Shades of Blue.

Jonathon Richardson – Priest/Emperor

Joined CULES just to try out this acting lark and am still larking around, with occassional forays into the laugh-a-minute punfest that is Sartre and serious drama that is Wilde, decided that light entertainment needs to be spread to the dark reaches of the north. Once an archaeology student, is training to be a fill time begger, donations of Special Brew welcome. First time to the fringe, may stay roaming the streets there.

Adam Pilcher – Angel

Adam managed to exist peacefully without having even heard of light entertainment for a whole two terms after arriving in Cambridge, but after that fateful first audition he has found himself drawn deeper into its clutches ever since. Perhaps his most notable appearence in CULES was his first, when he played Oedipus in a play which his whole family came to see.
