The Three Musketeers

Paris – Year of Our Lord Sixteen Hundred and Twenty six…

A remarkable time, one of intrigue, where the nobles make war against each other, Spain makes war against the king and the Cardinal makes war against everyone. Yet it is also a time of romance and adventure for the right man, where history is but a nail on which one may hang the picture of our tale. It is a picture of the minds eye, that captures the swirl and movement of that courtly scene, were the stones of the Louvre, the very cobbles of the street, to relate all they have witnessed. That those echoes of marching feet and whispers in corridors could be caught and bound again, and the threads that shape men and nations unravelled!

The Three Musketeers is an original play, based on Alexander Dumas’ classic novel. It is a swashbuckling adventure through the streets of seventeenth century Paris and London, capturing the darkness, the danger and the romance of that period. Sparkling dialogue and dazzling swordplay will make this epic shine as brightly as any of the Queen of France’s diamonds. Join D’Artagnan as he and his friends, Porthos, Athos, and Aramis, three dashing musketeers, journey to London to save their regiment, their Queen, on their way encountering love, villainy, intrigue and death, and some of the worst puns ever to grace the stage.

Performances

The play was performed from the 4th to the 9th August 2003 in Greyfriars Kirk House in Edinburgh, and with two outside performaces on the 3rd and 9th August.
